KOBIAN, the Very Emotional Humanoid Robot

KOBIAN

KOBIAN, emotional Humanoid Robot

Researchers in Japan have teamed up with a robot manufacturer to develop KOBIAN, a humanoid robot that uses its entire body to express a variety of emotions.

KOBIAN is a bipedal machine that can walk around, interact with and react to its environment, and express a wide range of emotions. It can express seven different feelings, including delight, surprise, sadness and dislike. The robot’s face (lips, eyelids and eyebrows) is controlled by a number of motors that change its expression according to the emotion, and at the same time, it also assumes an appropriate poses to match the mood.

Apparently, the robot’s ability to express its “emotions” like this, makes it better suited to interact with humans and assist with daily activities. In the future, in Japan, the robot may work in nursing or take care of the elderly.

But, is it just me, or does KOBIAN look and act a little gay?
